As we wrap up 2019 the City Manager says one of the highlights for him came fairly late in the year.
Norm Gale says he was glad to see the city finally win the legal battle with CN Rail over the James Street Bridge.
“It was quite pleasing, I would say, and beneficial to have that bridge re-opened again for Fort William First Nation and the City of Thunder Bay, two communities side by each. It’s a grand thing.”
Looking into 2020, the City Manager says one of the biggest items should be a decision on the $30-million indoor turf facility in the spring.
The year will start of with the budget, which Gale notes will be made public in January. Another item that’s top-of-mind for him is a $256,000 report that’s coming back mid-year.
Consulting firm Grant Thornton has started the second phase of the city’s program and service review.
