Local App Eyes Southern Ontario Market

A Thunder Bay-based ride-hailing app is hoping to spread into its ninth community in the new year.

Uride founder and CEO Cody Ruberto explains they are hopeful they will get approval in January from the city of Peterborough in southern Ontario.

“The amount of support we’ve been getting when we go into communities has been unbelievable. People need transportation, especially late at night.” Ruberto adds Peterborough residents have been reaching out to his app.

It’s a community he says has a market similar to Thunder Bay.

“They’re experiencing similar issues to what we were having before starting Uride.”

The Uride founder says they also recently ventured into Timmins and Moosejaw, Saskatchewan.

Uride was launched in 2017 with the intent of preventing impaired driving.
