Don Rosengren

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Arne Rosengren on May 11, 2026 at the age of 87. He was born in Port Arthur Ontario, on November 19, 1938 to Aarne and Ethel Rosengren.

Don is survived by his wife Gail, sons Ron (Lori) and Peter (Suzanne). Grandpa Don will be missed by Jessica (Sean), Leanna (Andrew), Alana and Tavis. Great grandchildren Autumn and Sawyer Bryan, Nolan and Isla Potvin and Coiren. Also surviving are his brother Gordon, sister-in-law Joan and her sons, Ron and Reg (Jodi) and their sons Mathew, Lucas and Jacob. Don was predeceased by his parents Aarne and Ethel, brothers Ed and Reg Sr. and nephew Ralph.

Don was a teacher for a short time. He then found a job at Canada Post. He would work there as a supervisor for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. Don was an accomplished fastball pitcher, bridge player, fisherman, and curler. Curling was always a topic of conversation, with the coins coming out at the dinner table to illustrate a particular shot. Although he didn’t get to the Brier, he always said “Postal Curling is my Brier.” He won the National Postal Curling Championship a record 8 times. Fishing was a passion as well. He would take many people to the lake and the secret spot for walleye! We all heard from him too, “Keep your rod up!” He was a dedicated member and founder of the PACC fish club.

The annual derby at Pakashkan Lake Lodge was a highlight. He also had a Victoria Day weekend fishing trip to Lac Seul that he and three friends took for more than 20 years. He was a great administrator. He was president of the PACC, National Chairman of Postal Curling, as well as a coordinator for many years. Later in life Mom and Dad went on numerous cruises with friends and relatives. He loved being with the grandkids and seeing the great grandchildren whenever he could.

A gentle man with a kind heart. Anyone who curled with him will tell you that! But beware the Rosy stare!

As per Don’s wishes, there will be no service. If so desired in lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cardiac Fund or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
