Another year’s work has begun for Christmas Cheer as they raise $116,000 to give local families toys and a week’s work of groceries.
This year, the charity is adding loaves of bread and boxes of crackers to the usual list of foods you can donate. Chair Joleene Kemp says they helped 8,000 people last year, but won’t speculate how many this year’s campaign will benefit.
Kemp notes this year’s fundraising goal is the same as last year’s, and she is confident they should be able to make ends meet.
The 2019 campaign will finish with the 12 Hours of Cheer by Acadia Broadcasting on December 16th, and families will pick up their gift boxes on December 17th and 18th. Christmas Cheer is also supported by the city’s firefighters through their Toys for Tots campaign.
