UPDATE at 4:51 p.m.

Thunder Bay’s already seen around 25 centimetres of snow yesterday, and now we can expect another 20 to 25 centimetres before New Year’s Eve. Environment Canada’s Peter Kimbell explains most of the heavy snowfall will take place overnight. “Probably 10 to 15 overnight and that should end tomorrow morning, so clearing by Tuesday afternoon. So we will have a chance to clear it all up tomorrow cause most of the snow will be done overnight.”

Kimbell says 5 to 10 centimetres of snow is expected this afternoon. The Environment Canada official notes there will be strong winds that will mix up blowing snow making visibility poor and suggests if you can to stay off the road.
