Resolute Forest Products is getting into the home tissue market.
The company has acquired Florida based Atlas Paper, a producer of several brands, for $156-million. It has facilities in Miami and Orlando and a recycling plant in Tampa.
President Richard Garneau says the purchase gives Resolute immediate access to the multi-billion dollar consumer tissue market.
Resolute is currently re-tooling a plant in Tennessee to product toilet paper and paper towels by 2017.
