Red Lake Emergency Shelter Closing Its Doors

The Red Lake Emergency Shelter has announced an indefinite closure effective September 30th.

The shelter will cease operations due to unstable funding.

Executive Director and Manager Janalee Jodouin says 15 to 20 people on a monthly basis will be left with no where to go with this closure.

Jodouin says they will now have to find a place to stay and warns clients may turn to the hospital or end up in a jail cell.

She adds the community response has been great but it isn’t enough to keep the shelter going.
