It appears a storm did some damage in the Quetico Provincial Park area.
Rob Kuhn with Environment Canada says they saw severe thunderstorms and strong winds in the Quetico and Atikokan areas, but it’s not clear whether it was a tornado.
Last night, Environment Canada issued weather alerts for Quetico, Shebandowan and Atikokan for a possible tornado, which was downgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning.
Kuhn says they received reports of “many trees, possibly hundreds” downed in the Quetico area.
He notes a line of severe thunderstorms swept across the region, but has since moved on to Northeastern Ontario.
A Thunder Bay resident posted photos and video on social media showing trees in the park that had been toppled, including one that fell onto a building.
The area is no longer under any weather alerts.
