PA Health Centre Strike Over, Back To Work August 24th

The strike at the Port Arthur Health Centre is officially over.

Unifor says the centre will resume normal operations by August 24th.

Unifor members voted to ratify the new agreement Tuesday night and yesterday the Port Arthur Health Centre Board, which includes the doctors who own the clinic, agreed to the deal.

Details of the new three year agreement are now being shared saying it includes a range of wage increases across a variety of areas retroactive to January 1st, 2018.

New employees will now have starting rates that are at least 4% to 5% above minimum wage and increases at every step of the pay grid.

Other improvements include increases to vision care benefits, uniform/shoe allowance and reimbursement for the cost of medical absence notes.
