The head of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association plans to talk with the Ontario government about the legalization of cannabis next week.
Wendy Landry tells us they need to sit down with the PCs to discuss their recent changes to how weed will be sold.
“You know and we haven’t had the opportunity to talk about anything different than what we did with the previous government with regard to the government run cannabis stores. Now that its changed to privatization we don’t know where the municipalities stand on that.”
However, the NOMA President backs the government’s decision to allow communities to say no to opt out of selling cannabis.
Landry also wants to hear how communities will fund the social issues that go along with legal cannabis use.
Landry and other NOMA delegates will be taking in the Association of Municipalities conference in Ottawa Monday. (File photo)
