Federal Money To Help Women Business Leaders

Women attempting to start a business in northern Ontario are getting financial help from the federal government, through PARO.

MP Patty Hajdu handed over $280,000 to the PARO Centre, noting one of the biggest hurdles is finding financial backing.

She adds another problem is women not being taken seriously when trying to get money, or expand their business.

The minister added this pool of money is part of a $10-million nationwide investment, designed to help women business leaders succeed.

And the owner of Prime Gelato is thrilled with the money.

Pointing to extra hurdles women face, Anne-Marie Calonego looks at being small in a sea of large ice cream companies owned by men.

She adds it’s not easy ensuring local, quality ingredients are used for her business.
