OPSEU Slams Provincial Budget Cuts

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is continuing to keep up the pressure on the Ford government.

It’s concerned about the impact of planned cuts.

President Warren ‘Smokey’ Thomas notes there’s about $3-billion in cuts hitting the provincial civil service directly.

“There really is going to be a war. It’s not a battle, it’s a war, and it’s going to last for about three years until the next election. Our job is to stop them in as many places as we can along the way.”

Thomas says the plans by the Ford government are much worse than what public sector employees endured during the Harris government in the 1990’s.

At the same time, Thomas claims there’s between $3- and $8-billion in benefits and tax cuts to the corporate sector.
