New Water Fee Still A Possibility

The city could go public next month with how it wants to finance plans to manage the runoff from rain and melted snow.

Spokesperson Aaron Ward says they are almost ready with a final recommendation to city council, which may include encouraging property owners to install proper drainage.

Currently, stormwater management is paid through various taxes, but in some cases, rural property owners are exempt.

He says right now the stormwater management fee is going through some final financing options and the city could begin holding consultation sessions as soon as next month.

The process has been a long one and has involved the city paying about a quarter a million dollars to consultants.
