With broken hearts the family of Madison Abby-Gail Smith announce her sudden passing on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 4 days before her 21st birthday.
Maddie was born on October 13, 2004 in Thunder Bay. She attended St. Margaret’s and St. Vincent’s elementary schools, then moved to Geraldton. When she returned to Thunder Bay she attended Hammarskjold High School.
Maddie loved with her whole heart. Her bright personality could light up a room, and she had an amazing sense of humour. She loved spending time with family, going camping and travelling.
Maddie is survived by her mother Fawn Toset; siblings Owen, Scott, Brayden, Summer and Kaius Smith; Godparents and bonus parents Diane “Mama” and Dave “Dad” Moore, who played a major role in raising her; bonus siblings Chris (Krista) Moore and Carrie Rempel; grandparents Donna Smith and Dave Williams; aunts Tammy (Chris) Moonias, Andrea Smith, Lindsay and Ashley Toset; as well as numerous cousins and other family.
She was predeceased by her father Lenny Smith; Uncle Jonathan Toset and maternal grandmother Linda.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 420 Gore Street West at James. Visitation will be held an hour prior.
Anyone who knew Maddie knew that she was rarely seen without a hoodie and a pair of dark jeans or leggings. In honour of her, we ask that family and friends attend the funeral in hoodies and jeans or leggings. She would have loved that!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Maddie to Urban Abbey would be appreciated.
