June 10, 1964 – April 27, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Mary Jewett Szezpanski on April 27, 2026. Joyce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce was always caring for everyone around her. She met Shaun in 1981, and they shared 45 wonderful years together. They were blessed with two amazing sons, Brenden and Justin, whom she loved dearly. Joyce especially cherished the time she spent with her family. She worked in the accounting department at McKellar Hospital and later at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for over 20 years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Joyce is lovingly remembered by her husband, Shaun Szezpanski; her sons, Brenden and Justin; her sisters, Lorraine Jewett (Vic), Loretta Difelice (Tony), Diane Jewett (Don), and Rhonda Jewett Harrison; and her brothers, Jim Jewett and Dwayne Jewett (Carol). She will also be missed by many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and May Jewett; her father-in-law, Frank Szezpanski; and her nephew, Shane Fortin.

Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Joyce’s warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered and carried in our hearts. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
