Frances Yvonne Normand (Lundeen)

It is with peace in their hearts, that the family of Frances (Franny) Yvonne Normand share of herpeaceful passing on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the age of 94 with her granddaughter by her side. She was predeceased by her devoted husband John Joseph Normand in 2007, with whom she shared over 56 years of marriage.

Frances was born on January 11, 1932 in Eagle River to parents Walter and Esther (Weberg) Lundeen. She was raised in Eagle River along with sisters Bernice and Beverly.

Frances met her future husband John in Eagle River and they were married January 20, 1951 in Dryden. John’s lifelong career as an Accountant with Ontario Hydro brought several moves over the following years and brought about many lasting friendships along the way. As Frances and John started to have children, they resided in Fort Frances, Ear Falls, Niagara Falls, followed by happy years in Hamilton.

Frances and John settled in Thunder Bay in 1970, where they moved into their newly constructed home on Black Bay Crescent. Frances devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising their 6 children. At home Frances enjoyed, baking, knitting, crocheting and sewing, tending to their vegetable gardens, growing plants and flowers and of course vanilla ice cream. Frances was strong in her faith, attending Our Lady of Loretto Church, enjoying her membership in themCWL and becoming a 60 year member.

Family life included countless outdoor adventures, from camping trips, fishing and hunting, berry picking along the way, road trips to ‘Eagle’ and visits to family members across Canada. In their later years Frances and John enjoyed travel to sunny destinations including Mexico and Cuba.

They lived many happy years surrounded by the love of their children, cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Normand home was always a welcome place, visited by many over the years and will hold a special place in the hearts of the Normand family, extended families and countless friends.

Frances is lovingly remembered by her 6 children, son Gerry (Cindy) Normand, Jaynie Ringer (Stan), Daniel Normand, Susan (Henry) Telpuk, James (Carole) Normand, David (Wendy) Normand, her 12 grandchildren, Jennifer, Annie (Matt), Melissa (Trevor), Chelsea (Trevor), Sarah (Dustin), Steve (Jacinta), Olivia, Laura (Matthew), Clayton (Jessica), Elaine, Danielle (Spencer), Jillian and her 6 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jonah, Brody, Daisy, Harper, and Lainy. She is also survived by her sister Beverly and family and many other family members throughout Canada and in California.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the Southbridge Roseview staff for their support and care of Frances, throughout her time there and in her final days.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Frances’ daughter Susan who provided love and great care of her Mom at home over many years. A special thank you to her son James and Carole for their great care in assisting Frances to Saturday Mass at Our Lady of Loretto Church for many years.

A Funeral Mass will be held in Frances’ memory on Wednesday, April 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held in the summer at Riverside Cemetery, where Frances and John will be laid to rest.
