Devona Beauregard

Mrs. Devona Beauregard, passed away peacefully on November 5th, 2025, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by her side.

Born in Fort William on November 9th, 1938, to James and Devona Crockett, Devona married George Beauregard Sr., January 23,1960. They welcomed daughter, Michelle and son, George Jr, creating an active family life, travelling, camping and fishing with family and dear friends. In retirement Devona and George wintered in Mexico and frequently visited Michelle and her family in Alberta. After George’s passing, while Michelle and Doug lived overseas, she had the opportunity to visit Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Egypt, Turkey and England. With friends, winter golfing in Arizona was a respite from our cold winters. It was there she was introduced to another Thunder Bay winter escapee, Charlie Ihantola, with whom she spent her final years enjoying life volunteering and travelling.

Although preceded in death by her husband and her cherished son George Jr., Devona’s legacy endures through her loving daughter Michelle Hardman and husband Douglas of Bragg Creek, AB; her beloved grandsons Alexander Hardman and Jamie Yalte and special great-granddaughter Maisie, and Matthew Hardman all from Calgary. She will be dearly missed by her devoted partner, Charlie Ihantola and dear sister Margaret Crowe. Numerous caring nieces, nephews, and cousins in Thunder Bay and across Canada, will miss Devona’s support and companionship.

Devona was predeceased by her beloved parents Jim and Devona Crockett and brothers Jim (Lynda), Don (Pat), Jack (Joan), brother-in-law Bill Crowe and George’s sisters, brothers and many members of the Beauregard family.

Devona was known for her impeccable organizational skills and was a natural fit within the reception, clerical, and bookkeeping roles she was devoted to in various medical/dental and other offices throughout her working years.

Devona’s zest for life was apparent through her varied interests. She was a marvellous bowler, an avid camper, a skilled card player, an enthusiastic golfer, and a wanderlust traveller. Volunteering at the former Port Arthur General Hospital and then, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre was where she enjoyed giving back to her community. In recent years she enthusiastically joined Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5, seen regularly volunteering alongside Charlie. Her absence will be greatly felt by family and friends.

Devona demonstrated the power of a friendly smile, a caring heart, and the unyielding strength of family bonds. We hold her memory with love and gratitude.

Cremation and a Private Family Interment will be held at the family plot in Riverside Cemetery.

A reception celebrating Devona Beauregard’s life will occur in Thunder Bay in Summer 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
