Lobby Group To Tackle Employment Crisis

Common Voice Northwest suggests this region could be facing an employment crisis in the next few years.

Iain Angus is executive director and says with an aging population, many people are leaving the workforce, but no-one is filling those job vacancies.

Angus estimates that about two thousand people will be leaving the workforce each year for the next 25 years and we simply don’t have the population to replace them.

He suggests companies are already importing workers from other parts of the country and will have to look at immigration to meet the skilled worker shortage.

Angus notes that tackling this issue is the focus of three of their newest task forces. (File Photo)
