High School Teachers Announce Job Action

Public high school teachers in the province will begin their job action next week.

Local union spokesperson Rich Seeley tells us it will include going out in public and trying to convince you to support their side in the contract dispute with the province.

He says you may see teachers outside one of the high schools on the sidewalk “before school after school or during lunch.” Seeley explains “they are not going to holding picket signs necessarily they going to be holding flyers.” As well the teacher may take their information flyers to other parts of the city, even shopping malls.

In addition, the teachers union spokesperson tells us teachers will also stop performing certain administrative functions.

The move is part of a strategy to convince the provincial government to change its demands in contract negotiations with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.
