The curtain has been pulled aside revealing Safeway and Sobey’s as the Mystery Sponsor for Special Olympics’ Mystery Match Day.
Games organizer Barry Strieb could not contain his appreciation as the sponsor matched each $500 contribution for up to 50 athletes, and added an additional $50,000 to that.
“It’s really about ensuring that we have appropriate funds for the games, to ensure that travel, food and accommodations for all the athletes are pretty much covered.”
Organizers add in total almost $98,772 was raised for Match Day, drafting 197 athletes.
