Fire Crews Tackle Attic Fire

An attic fire dealt extensive damage to the roof a north-side home.

Firefighters got word around nine o’clock Sunday night of the fire on Nelson Street between Court and Cumberland Streets.

They say it began as a chimney fire that spread to the upper part of the home. The rest of the home also suffered significant water and smoke damage.

Crews called for backup, and were then able to quickly put the fire out.

Nobody was injured, and everyone inside had already evacuated the house when firefighters arrived.
