EcoSuperior To Cut Plastic Waste

EcoSuperior is getting just over $95,000 to prevent plastic waste from going into Lake Superior.

Project Supervisor Shannon Costigan says they recently received the money through the EcoAction Community Funding Program.

She explains it will let them work with businesses, schools, and institutions along the North Shore.

“We’ll analyze plastic usage in their operations, so we can identify opportunities for reduction. So then, what we’re going to do is research some alternative products, test market them for their uses, so that these businesses can really look at moving away from single-use plastics.”

The EcoSuperior official explains they hope to also begin letting customers pay a deposit on reusable products, and return them to be re-used.

She calls the funding extremely important.
