Crime Prevention Plan In The Works

The city’s Crime Prevention Council says they’re making good progress towards a new community safety plan.

Co-ordinator Lee-Ann Chevrette explains the province requires all communities to have a plan in place by January 2021.

“Thunder Bay is well down that road,” Chevrette notes. “We have a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, and we’ll be working to improve that in its next incarnation.”

The Crime Prevention official adds the city had good foresight to establish the group before many other municipalities did, putting them ahead of the curve when the province introduced the legislation requiring the safety plan.

Chevrette made the comments in an update to City Council on last year’s progress for the group.
