City To Re-Open Cemeteries

The city is reversing its decision to close two cemeteries to the public.

Mountain View and St. Patrick’s Cemeteries will remain open, effective immediately.

Mayor Bill Mauro says he and other members of Council were uncomfortable with closing the city cemeteries to visitors.

Due to the pandemic, you won’t be allowed to use any amenities like water taps and benches while visiting, and city officials remind you to keep at least two metres away from others.

The city announced on Thursday it would close the two facilities to the public on the recommendations from the Ontario Association of Cemetery and Funeral Professionals. It was intended to stop the spread of COVID-19.
