City Pays Up On Commuter Challenge Wager

Thunder Bay fell to Kingston in this year’s Commuter Challenge.

Sustainability Coordinator Amy Coomes tells us since we lost, our Mayor Bill Mauro paid off his end of the friendly bet with Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson.

They raised the flag of the City of Kingston at City Hall, with Mayor Bill Mauro wearing a Kingston shirt.

It was a close, according to Coomes. “We did the best we’ve ever done in this city. We have over 1,100 participants, Kingston has 1,300. I’m extremely proud of our city.”

The national friendly competition asks you to walk, bike, bus, or carpool to work or school for a week in June.
