Thunder Bay’s Strathcona Golf Course is getting ready to celebrate 100 years of operation.
On July 30, the course is holding a celebration from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the putting green featuring remarks from local dignitaries, community representatives, and members of the golf community.
The event will also feature a special ceremonial putt using a 100-year-old putter and golf ball once played by 1930s Strathcona Invitational Champion, Johnny Henry.
As part of the festivities, a historical exhibit is being unveiled, commemorating the course’s rich legacy in Thunder Bay.
“Marking 100 years at Strathcona Golf Course is a significant milestone not just for the city, but for the many individuals and families who have built memories here,” said the Supervisor of Golf Services, Pat Berezowski. “We look forward to celebrating this important facility with the community and reflecting on its legacy as a treasured part of Thunder Bay’s recreational history.”
The event is free and open to everyone.
