City Police Crack Down On Impaired Driving On Long Weekend

Another long weekend brings greater risk of impaired drivers, and Thunder Bay police will be doing their best to stop that.

Constable Mark Cattani notes they’ll be increasing the number of RIDE checks, and they’ll be out in full force to keep people safe.

He points out police won’t let up in cracking down on drunk and impaired driving, especially as they’ve seen a steady increase in the number of impaired drivers.

“Even if we see a slight decrease in the amounts [of impaired driving offences] one year, we can expect there’s going to be a rise in the years to come.”

“You just have to keep that message out there.”

The officer adds that even a small reduction in the amount of drunk driving is worth the effort by police.
