FWFN Declares State Of Emergency

A state of emergency has been declared on the Fort William First Nation.

The chief and council indicate it means effective immediately there is a public curfew in effect from 10 pm until 8 am daily to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.

It will remain in effect until the situation improves.

The declaration includes asking for support from the federal and provincial governments along with regional health officials to address the pandemic.

There is also a request for mass testing and tracing in the First Nation and surrounding region and to set up an isolation shelter.
