COVID Crisis Keeps Paramedics On Alert

The huge COVID caseload in Thunder Bay keeping paramedics vigilant.

Superior North EMS Chief Wayne Gates tells us they get their inspiration from other areas of the province which have also gone through a spike in cases like Windsor, Peel Region, and Toronto.

“And they all have weathered the storm well…the credit goes to…those front line boots on the ground…who really do care about our community,” notes Gates.

The EMS chief is optimistic the vaccine will ease our COVID crisis adding “I think in the next few months we’ll really start seeing our numbers really…go down…and I think that will relieve some of the mental anxiety,” that all of them are feeling.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
