Top Doctor Pleads For COVID Compliance

A somber message from the region’s top doctor on the COVID-19 surge in the region.

In a video statement Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille began by acknowledging that the virus has spread beyond the homeless population.

She is asking you to follow the public health guidelines and to take them seriously in order to bring down the ever rising numbers.

It follows a weekend when our active case count was in the range of 470 and noting the situation is the worst that it has ever been since the pandemic began one year ago.

DeMille suggests people are still going about their daily lives even when they have symptoms saying “They are passing the virus on to others even before they know they have COVID.”

She is encouraging you to limit your in-person interactions and stick to your household as much as possible and not hang out with friends or extended family members.

The video message is below.
