Another Rise In Daily COVID-19 Cases

41 new cases of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District.

Officials indicate for the fourteenth straight day we’ve hit double-digit daily COVID-19 cases.

At the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre 16 patients are in the designated COVID-19 ward with six additional cases in the Intensive Care Unit.

The breakdown:

  • 21 cases obtained from someone else who had the virus
  • Six cases have no known exposure cause
  • 12 case causes are pending
  • One case is tied to the Musselwhite Mine outbreak
  • One case is tied to the Thunder Bay District Jail outbreak

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit also says that 25 cases have been resolved.

The new cases means the active count is up to 273.

It’s been a while since the Thunder Bay District Health Unit saw a single digit day of COVID-19 cases; Six cases were reported on February 9th.

While COVID-19 numbers are spiking locally, the province reports 975 new cases Tuesday and 12 deaths.
