A $160-million lawsuit has been filed against the parent company of Southbridge Roseview long-term care home in Thunder Bay.
A spokesperson for the Will Davidson law firm in southern Ontario tells us families lost loved ones from COVID-19 at some of Southbridge Care Home’s 36 long-term care and retirement facilities.
The statement of claim points to negligence and breach of contract.
The spokesperson notes 104 residents died at Southbridge facilities in southern Ontario, as well as 23 at Roseview in Thunder Bay.
One local family is included in the lawsuit.
Officials as the Roseview site in Thunder Bay are not able to comment on an issue before the courts, but add they continue to work to provide high quality care for their residents.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
