Police Warn Of Email Scam

It seems fraudsters are targeting local church-goers.

Thunder Bay Police say local church parishioners have been getting emails claiming to be from leadership, management or peers of their church, asking for help due to hospitalization or other difficult situations.

The email sometimes includes a request for gift cards to help out the church member.

Police say to be suspicious of these type of requests, and always double-check by independently contacting the person or organization the message claims to be from.

Thunder Bay Police also want to remind you that no reputable institution will ask you for any payment in the form of gift cards.
