Crosswalk Fundraiser Nearing Goal

Fundraising efforts are going well for Thunder Pride’s crosswalk projects at two city intersections.

Chair Jason Veltri explains they need about $2,500 to reach their goal of $10,000 so they can help get those crosswalks painted in pride colours. Says Veltri, “ideally we would like to reach that goal before the beginning of the year.”

City Council has already decided to put $28,000 in the 2020 budget for the project.

Veltri says “this is more than paint on a road, this is about providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone who lives (in)…or visits our city.”

Another fundraiser is expected to be announced by the Bay and Algoma neighbourhood in the new year.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
