Worries about the increasing drug trade in the city have the Thunder Bay Police Service working jointly with police forces in the region.
Detective Inspector John Fennell tells us “it’s not just a local problem,” the drug trafficking activity in the city has the potential to affect the rest of northwestern Ontario. He notes ‘it also goes to the outlying small communities as well.”
The comments from the detective inspector come as the latest statistics from 2018 show we have the highest murder rate in the country. Fennell says the drug trade has “an absolute” effect on our rates of violent crime and that includes homicide.
