Key Facts About Local Ridings

The two federal ridings in Thunder Bay comprise an area of 127,000 square kilometres just slightly less than the surface area of the United Kingdom.

Combined, there are about 131,400 eligible voters in Thunder Bay-Superior North and Thunder Bay-Rainy River.

In the last election in 2015, both ridings voted Liberal with Patty Hajdu winning in.

If the last federal vote is any indication there could be a high turnout in the two ridings.

The turnout in 2015 was 64 percent in Thunder Bay-Rainy River and 68 percent in Thunder Bay-Superior North.

The two ridings have close to the equal number of voters but are not equal in size.

Thunder Bay- Superior North covers almost 88,000 square kilometres of area over twice the size of Thunder Bay-Rainy River which is just under 40,000 square kilometres in size.

However both ridings have between 65,500 to 65,900 eligible voters.
