The push is on to encourage more women in the city to vote in this federal election and consider voting for female candidates.
The founder of Women in Politics, city councillor Rebecca Johnson, calls it a very important responsibility.
She indicates that because women make up at least 50 percent of the population, it stands to reason they should be equally represented in parliament.
Johnson adds voting is also a way to tell those in power, “this is how I want my country governed.”
The city councillor is disappointed, however, that there are not more female candidates in this election.
