Proposed 2020 Police Operations Budget Sees Increase

Thunder Bay Police Services 2020 operational budget is coming in almost $1.5 million more than the previous year.

Chief Sylvie Hauth tells us there are a number of reasons for the increase, but notes they also haven’t received any additional provincial funding to address one of her main concerns drugs and gangs.

“It’s a huge aspect in our community right now, and that is my focus and priority, but it does come at a cost, and that’s part of the frustration in Thunder Bay because we really don’t get the same attention as our southern counterparts in the GTA.”

The operational budget, which still needs to be approved by City Council, is pegged at $44.9 million.
