Police Board Wants To Work With Union

Thunder Bay’s Police Services Board continues to work on improving their relationship with the union that represents their police officers.

Since January, the board has requested an update from the Thunder Bay Police Association at their monthly meetings but according to Chair Celina Reitberger, no one has taken them up on their offer.

“I think it might be an issue of trust. We are trying to build a stronger relationship with the association, in the past, it’s been very non-existent. We are going to reach out again. I’ll be calling the Vice-Chair of the Association and we will send a letter and I hope that does the trick and we see them at one of our future board meetings.”

Reitberger feels it is important to hear from the police union since they represent the front line officers whose experience is an asset that the police board would like to utilize.

The Thunder Bay Police Association tells us they will not be commenting on the comments made by the Police Service Board Chair Celina Reitberger.
