It’s a long weekend, and that means you can set off fireworks leading up to the civic holiday.
However, according to Thunder Bay Fire’s Public Education Officer Kevin Anderson, some residents haven’t been following the rules and have set them off on regular weekends.
“You know neighbours have been calling to complain saying the dogs don’t like it or it is keeping the kids up. You can do it on the holidays, you just can’t do it all of the time. It’s meant for special occasions.”
If you do set fireworks off this weekend make sure it’s on your property and you have no fire hazards like trees nearby.
The City’s by-law allows fireworks to be set off during specified holidays and the three days leading up to them.
