Almost 300 people will be jumping into Lake Superior today as part of this afternoon’s Polar Bear Plunge.
Organizer Warren Giertuga says participants are pumped up on adrenaline and the cheers from the crowd.
“Up to 300 people are jumping in, and there are lots of spectators as well. The crowd is pretty into it and lots of cheering. By the time you hit the water, you really don’t feel it until you are out of the water.”
Organizers hope to raise $50,000, and funds will be shared between the Special Olympics, the 2020 Thunder Bay Special Olympic games, and Roots to Harvest.
Trent Allen and Jason Wellwood are jumping in for Acadia Broadcasting.
