It’s been 87 years since Canadian women were officially recognized as persons.
As Canada celebrates Persons Day, Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu says the legal victory by the so called Famous Five opened new doors for generations of women.
In 1929, that group of Alberta women won a legal case to redefine the word “person”, which also gave women the right to serve in the Canadian Senate.
