FedNor is funding initiatives to bring fresh food to northern communities.
Minister Greg Rickford says the project aims to create a joint regional food distribution centre based at the Sioux Lookout airpot. That centre would bring affordable, accessible fresh foods to Ontario’s northwest. Rickford says they’re funding a $83,000 study to understand how to set up a regional distribution facility for food and consumer goods.
Sioux Lookout connects over 30,000 people in 29 remote First Nations.
