$40K Boost For StrEatery

You’ll see some additions to the Waterfront StrEatery and Marketplace on Red River Road.

The outdoor project on Red River Road has let 20 downtown restaurants set up patio space.

The city’s business development group is investing $40,000 into the project for shade umbrellas, maintenance, and personal protective equipment. The money from the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission will also help add new programming to the outdoor dining area.

“We are pleased our Board recognized this timely opportunity to help up to 20 local businesses expand their ability to serve their customers and maximize their potential to generate revenue coming out of pandemic restrictions,” says Eric Zakrewski, CEO for Thunder Bay CEDC. “This investment puts people back to work immediately and will inform the City as to the larger and longer term potential of the StrEatery concept.”

The CEDC adds the StrEatery will be in place until September 30th, and is a pilot project for a pedestrian promenade in the north downtown core.
