Hiker Rescued After Lengthy Search

A hiker is safe after an extensive search in the Nor Wester Mountains.

Around 7:30 last night, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue were called out to help city police find a woman who had gotten lost on the trails near Coppin Road, off of Mountain Road near Highway 61.

The search took several hours, and firefighters had to use their off-road vehicle to navigate the trails during the thunderstorm.

Crews couldn’t get in touch with her because her phone had lost power after she contacted her boyfriend to say she was lost.

They were eventually able to find her at the top of a trail and transfer her to paramedics who checked her for any medical issues.
