Snow-Rain Mix Starting Tonight

Brace for some messy weather as snow and rain heads for the Thunder Bay area.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson explains it will get started around midnight as a snow and rain mix, but then turn to snow and ice pellets in the early morning hours with a chance of freezing rain.

“And then as the day progresses on Wednesday, finally going over to snow, and then that snow continuing into the early morning hours on Thursday,” he says.

Coulson says the Thunder Bay area could get up to 15 centimetres, and 15 to 20 is expected for areas to the west of the city by the time the snow ends Thursday.

He notes that the cooler temperatures mean the snow will stick around for a few days, and we could see some more flurries on the weekend.
