City leaders will decide whether to supply over 75,000 disposable masks for people living in poverty.
A report to City Council recommends they do it at a cost of over $28,000 from their reserves.
The actual price will be closer to $38,000, but the city received $10,000 from the Canadian Medical Association Foundation to help with the cost. If Council approves the purchase, the city will work with other organizations to decide how to best distribute the masks to people in need.
The Thunder Bay Community Foundation and The United Way made the request, and say they are also trying for funding to get thousands of reusable masks as well.
