Woman Escapes House Fire

No one is hurt following a house fire at 231 Van Horne Street on the city’s north side.

Fire platoon chief John Kaplanis tell us it was called in just after 8:30 Wednesday morning after a neighbour saw smoke pouring from a second-floor bedroom.

He says the house was occupied by multiple tenants adding ” There was only one tenant home at the time of the fire. She was in the basement at the time so she was unhurt, she got out of the building on her own.”

Fire damage to the top floor is extensive with water damage to the main floor.

The cause is under investigation.
