Thunder Bay police are looking into an art fraud ring involving the works of Norval Morrisseau.
A spokesperson says the investigation is “active and ongoing,” but is not able to talk about potential suspects or persons of interest.
In February of 2019, Morrisseau’s works were also involved in a criminal investigation in Montreal. Police recovered two paintings by the artist which were stolen from Confederation College in 1981.
Morrisseau was from Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek First Nation in the Beardmore area.
