Local students elected Bill Mauro in a mock vote held alongside the municipal election.
The organization CIVIX held Student Votes in communities across the country, including Thunder Bay.
Similar to the real election, elementary and high school students elected Peng You and Trevor Giertuga as Councillors At Large, and Shelby Ch’ng for Northwood, Kristen Oliver in Westfort, and Brian McKinnon in Red River.
However, there were some differences when compared with the official vote.
Students would have voted Chris Krumpholz, Jeff Upton, and Diane Armstrong for At Large positions and chose Jamie Cressman for Current River.
They elected Wesley Ramage for McIntyre and Robert Jankovic in McKellar ward.
